Fiberglass Welding Blanket

Fiberglass Welding Blanket

Fiberglass is made by drawing molten glass into fine, flexible fibers that can then be woven into a dense protective fabric. The material contains no combustible organic components, so it is not combustible and doesn't release toxic gases when exposed to high temperatures. It is suitable for welding protection as it can intercept sparks and molten metal spatter without catching fire.

The small pockets of still air that remain between the fine glass fibers when woven into fabric slow the transfer of heat through the material and provide an additional thermal barrier. Therefore, fiberglass is widely used for welding blankets that protect nearby surfaces, equipment and work areas from heat, sparks and welding spatter.
