Split Cowhide Leather
Leather remains one of the most widely used materials across welding PPE, protective clothing and accessories because of its natural resistance to heat, sparks, welding spatter and abrasion. Different types of leather offer noticeably different levels of softness, flexibility and wear resistance. The choice of leather can be matched to the protection and movement required.

Deerskin
Deerskin has a fine, even texture with a naturally soft fiber and a smooth feel against the skin. Both grain and split deerskin can be used for protective products. Split deerskin gloves offer good softness and comfort during extended wear. It is flexible enough to reduce restrictions around the fingers and makes it easier to perform work that requires precise hand movement, dexterity and better control. For this reason, deerskin is commonly used for TIG welding gloves.

Cowhide
Cowhide offers good natural resistance to heat as it can withstand welding sparks, molten metal spatter and brief contact with high temperatures. After processing, it is commonly available as grain leather with a smoother outer surface, and split leather, which has a rougher, suede-like texture. Cowhide usually has a firmer feel, strong resistance to abrasion and holds up well under frequent use. Its durability and economical cost make it a commonly used material for leather welding clothing and accessories such as gloves, jackets, aprons, sleeves and more protective products.

Goatskin
Goatskin offers a good protection against welding sparks and moderate heat exposure. At the same time, it also retains the softness and flexibility needed for precise hand movement. Its fine fiber structure gives the leather a smooth, supple feel without the stiffness associated with heavier leather options. The balance of effective protection and flexibility makes goatskin well suited to welding work like TIG and MIG welding.

Pigskin
Pigskin has a naturally porous surface that promotes airflow and can reduce the hot, enclosed feeling that develops during prolonged glove use. It is also less prone to becoming stiff after exposure to perspiration and generally retains good flexibility once dry. As the grain pigskin absorbs oil relatively slowly, it is a suitable choice for protective products that might occasionally come in contact with oil and grease.
